#The100DayProject – Day 20

The twentieth day of #The100DayProject from Delux Designs (DE) consists of a new acrylic painting! Check out our new portrait painting added to our growing collection of artwork for day 20 of this year’s art challenge below:

Normal Girl

Douglas, Keara. Normal Girl2017 September.

Created on a 16×20 inch canvas panel, Normal Girl, is an acrylic portrait painting made with Anita’s Acrylic Paint from Hobby Lobby. The color palette chosen for this particular piece was kept to a minimum with no colors added. Only ones used are black, white, gray, and a cream color.

You may remember me discussing our music listening sessions for paintings in previous posts. Well this one is pretty much the same. Normal Girl was created and named based off of listening to music artist SZA’s song Normal Girl. The black and white color scheme ties in with how I personally felt while listening to the song. Not saying that the song itself made me feel dark and lacking color, but it did have a more chill feel to it than other songs. I went with a portrait for this one instead of my normal abstract style because the song felt more emotional to me than others. What makes this music listening piece really different from the others is the fact that it is based on one individual song unlike the others that are based on full albums.
