The title, Smile, of this new watercolor painting from visual artist @K_DougDE pretty much sums up what this piece is about. With so much going on in the world right now, a simple smile can be the big difference in one person’s day.

Douglas, Keara. Smile. 2015. Acrylic. 14×11 inches.
I painted Smile back in 2015.
This was my very first watercolor painting, which is not my normal paint medium of choice. I wanted to try something new, well not really new for me. I’ve painted with watercolor paints before and often use watercolor in my #DEMusicBlocks, it’s just not a preferred paint of choice for me. I guess you could say this painting is out of the norm. The particular brand of watercolors I used for this piece are from the Artist Loft collection from Michaels Arts and Crafts. Watercolor paints always seem to be cheaper than acrylic and oil paints for some reason, so I was happy about this purchase. I didn’t want to invest too much into the paint itself since I don’t use this type often. My surface of choice for this piece is Cheap Joe’s Art Stuff prime canvas panel. Even though these are already pre-primed, I always prime again with Liquitex Matte Primer.
