The Purple Crown Project – Nine Seconds

Did you know?

Every 9 seconds a woman is abused in the US.

Think about it.
Count to nine right now.
Every time you reach the number nine, one woman is being abused literally somewhere around the United States.

This includes all races and nationalities. One could say that itself is a bad epidemic in this country, in which is one of the reasons The Purple Crown Project began in the first place. We want to bring awareness to this epidemic affecting women specifically in this country. Of course, we know abuse can happen from both genders and we are not and are never disregarding the abuse done to men at the hands of women. We see it as well and notice it. If you watch the Oxygen channel on Sundays, you can see it for yourself during the television series Snapped for example. Some women do have the ability to literally snap on a man & become just as abusive as a man as well, if not ten times worse. But for us here, we want to keep our focus on bringing more awareness to harm done to women at the hands of men on a regular basis.

This rate of abuse towards women domestically is alarming and shouldn’t be happening. There are 60 seconds in one minute. This means that there are a potential of 6-7 women being abused or assaulted domestically every single minute of the day. There are 60 minutes in one hour. That means that there are a potential of 360 – 420 women being abused in one hour in the United States domestically. There’s 24-hours in one day. That’s 8,640 – 10,080 women being abused per day in the United States. This is definitely a major epidemic going on that is just being brushed under the rug as though it has become a normal thing and normal activity and not enough attention is bring brought to the issue.
