Day 13: Tupac Music Block

For Day 13, a new music block was created for the collection using our ArTherapy method featuring legendary rapper from California, Tupac Shakur! For our previous music blocks, we would typically use bright colors on the artist’s faces to make them pop and more flatter colors for the backgrounds, but for this one we wanted to change things up a bit. So we focused the bright colors on the background and created a nice gradient with Gouache watercolor paint, along with a smooth yet bumpy texture by using clear plastic wrap and thick layers of Liquitex medium. Once it dried, we then went in with just black and white Anita’s acrylic paint to create Tupac’s face and make it stand it out from the background. This is the only black and white Music Block we have available at the moment but we do plan on using this new technique on more of them in the future.
