Day 24: DNA

DNA was created similar to how two previous paintings were created. Below are my Anti and Tiller paintings created between last year and 2014. For these particular paintings I focused on layering. For Anti, I listened to Rihanna’s album titled, “Anti” and just began painting based of of how the music made me feel. Same thing was done for Tiller but it was based off of Bryson Tiller’s first album. Each layer represents each song of each album. I made sure to keep painting until the entire album would stop playing.

For our newest piece today, it was based off of Kendrick Lamar’s “DAMN” album. Fun fact: this painting started off as a portrait of Kendrick Lamar. I drew out parts of his face including one eye and his mouth and nose area, but I made sure to not put too much detail into. From there the layering began. The type of paints I used were acrylic and gouache watercolor paint, along with sharpies and some hints of glitter mixed into the paint.
