This past weekend has been one of the most exciting times for me as an artist. I had the opportunity to participate in Biketoberfest of Charlotte! You may be asking what exactly is Biketoberfest? Well this is a unique, informational event to show people how to get around the city of Charlotte, particularly Uptown, without driving. If you are already a resident of Charlotte, NC or have simply just visited the city, you already know how hectic traffic can become daily and basically hourly throughout the city each day. So this event really helped out a lot of people this past weekend. Not only did it show you some hidden gems around uptown to maybe visit at a later date, but it also showed you how you can be more environmentally friendly while moving around the city during daily errands or even for work everyday. During the event this past Sunday, you were able to pick up a Biketoberfest passport that included a map of different destinations along a guided path where you could place official stamps from each stop marking where you had visited those spots. At the end of the bike ride, each stamp would be entered into a raffle for the event so you not only got to learn how to get around Charlotte whether it be on foot or on a bike, but you also had the opportunity to win a lot of great prizes as well! Cool right?

The beautiful part about this event is that local area artists had the opportunity to design their very own portion of the path for bike riders through a well known and respected non-profit called Sustain Charlotte. This not only helped towards beautifying Uptown Charlotte, but it also gave artists the opportunity to show off their very own art styles. Our very own design above for the public installations created this weekend was titled Living Single, check it out above and below in the photographs shown! This was a great opportunity and I am so thankful that DE was chosen to take part in this.
This was a temporary art installation for the city using chalk pastels, so it may or may not still be there after the rain from yesterday afternoon. But if you were able to attend the event this weekend and happened to take some pictures featuring our mural design, tag @deluxds and use hashtag #DE in your images for a feature on our Instagram page!
