Reese’s peanut butter cups have been a favorite candy choice for me since I was a little girl! This is a go-to for me anytime I stop at the store or just want a quick snack. Sometimes I eat too many of them but we won’t focus on that today.
Douglas, Keara. Reese’s Love. 2019. Acrylic. 18×24 inches.
We are back again with another new acrylic painting from visual artist @K_DougDE titled, Reese’s Love. For this painting of course you can clearly see visually that I was inspired by the popular and long standing chocolate candy brand Reese’s. I mixed in the concept of chocolate women with the candy itself and came up with this creation in highlight of March being Women’s History Month! For this piece I kept the color palette simple with only five colors of Anita’s Acrylic Paint from Hobby Lobby; pumpkin orange, chocolate brown, earth brown, white and black on a wrapped canvas board from Michaels Arts and Crafts store. My goal was to create an African American woman as if she is coming out of, or growing from, the Reese’s chocolate peanut butter cup itself and I think I pretty much pulled that off pretty good with this one.
