One of the things that I promised and made a vow to myself on improving for the year of 2017 is my mental health. Last year was a really bad year for me mentally with trying to juggle so many things at one time, and just dealing with things as a whole. I felt as though everything was weighing me down and I wasn’t getting anything done. This year, I kind of just stumbled upon this girl from twitter named Morgan Daniels from Atlanta, Georgia after participating in the #blkcreatives monthly twitter chat on Twitter. What drew me into her was the fact that she was soooo positive about everything. I don’t think I have ever seen her post or tweet anything negative since. Once I stumbled across her personal twitter page, I came across the reason of why she was so positive it seemed like. Miss Daniels is the owner and operator of a growing and flourishing organization called JOYDay Movement. What she focuses on with JOYDay is the importance of improving your mental health and everything mental you may be going through. For me, when I came across this page, it was like God dropping an angel right beside me to guide and help me into a better lifestyle and a better way of thinking about life as a whole. Ever since then, I kept up with the site, sometimes going to it randomly just to read her articles during bad times in hopes of finding solutions to my problems in which I almost always do.

Soon after coming across the page on twitter, I learned about JOYDay’s weekly chats online and began participating every Tuesday of every week as a way of implementing self-care into my weekly routine. After a couple weeks of chatting with the other participates online including Miss Daniels, I am now one of the writers for JOYDay Movement! Things have been really exciting in that department from being able to vent and release about different issues others may be facing right along with me, as well as with showing others ways to improve that I have learned myself this year.

The JOYDay Movement has now also began weekly challenges for anyone to do which are really cool for staying productive. This week’s challenge was to write a break up letter to something that you would like to let go of in life. Often times once you write something down, you’re more likely to 100% do whatever it is that you’ve set out to do. This challenge can be your start for getting rid of that one thing that is holding you back from your full potential. You can read my letter below as an example, but we would love to read your letters if you have one or feel comfortable enough to share with us by commenting below. Also join us on twitter for our twitter chat TONIGHT at 8:30pm ET as we chat about the new Netflix series 13 Reasons Why as well! Keep up with the entire chat by adding #JOYDayMovement to all of your tweets from the @JOYDayMovement twitter page! Your mental health matters everyone, and you deserve great head space. Start improving your thoughts and way of life by joining us tonight for our twitter chat! If you can’t make the twitter chat, then feel free to check out the website at www.joyday.org! Enjoy everyone!
