The official symbol of Domestic Violence Awareness is the purple ribbon.
You may notice, however, that the purple ribbon is represented by a number of different causes and awareness for a number of different issues in today’s society including pancreatic cancer, lupus awareness, opioid, spirit day representation for victims of homophobia, and epilepsy awareness just to name a few.
To show your support of domestic violence victims, wear your purple ribbon daily, tie it to the antenna of your car (if you have one a lot of the newer model cars don’t have antennas anymore), place a purple ribbon magnet on your car, tie a purple ribbon around your tree in the yard of your home, tie a purple ribbon on your work bag for work. You never know who has gone through this type of abuse or who may be going through it daily that you may see on a regular basis. Seeing you display this type of ribbon may be the breaking point they needed to get out and it may be the turning point they needed to finally open up and bring awareness to their situation in order to get help for themselves.
