Work On Yourself

Jim Rohn once stated, “Work on yourself, not on your job. Work hard at your job and you can make a living. Work hard on yourself and you can make a fortune.” Lately, life hassles and unexpected misfortunes have forced me to think about the things that I value more than making a dollar bill. Of course, we all need to focus on work in order to pay bills and what not, but what good is having your bills paid if you are not happy with where you are in life?

This quote has stuck with me for about a year now. I always naturally tie it in with realizing the difference between just a job and a full blown career. The more you focus on that one set job, you are helping someone’s dreams flourish while yours sit behind you collecting dust. But if you focus on yourself and where you want to be long term (aka your career), you’ll build your own dreams ultimately making yourself happy and paid, and lets face it what is better than being happy AND paid?

Right now, take a vow to focus more on yourself to begin the month of June 2017. If you have been working non-stop with no breaks, take some vacation time. That job will still be there when you come back. If you have been worrying about school work and that grade point average, take a vacation. You have the entire summer to go and won’t be back in school for another month (unless you’ve decided to do summer school), enjoy it as much as possible. Worrying will not help anything, it will only create new problems. Not happy with your body at the moment? Begin a new workout routine today. Do you have a desire to start your own business? Go ahead and begin the research for it right now, today. You can not get anything started by not beginning, why not start today?
